Every collector in ArrayIQ has a slightly different configuration. However, there are three broad categories.
- SMIS – These collectors need a URL that consists of protocol, host, port, and namespace. The namespace usually varies from collector to collector. Port is pretty much fixed (5988 for http and 5989 for https). The namespace can be hardcoded in the collector. Users can only enter protocol and host and default port can be derived from the protocol. Users will need the ability to override the port though. Collectors using SMIS are:
- Brocade SMIS
- Cisco SMIS
- EMC SMIS – Includes VNX, VMAX, likely any others with SMIS support
- Hitachi G100
- Hitachi
- HP 3PAR
- IBM
- LSI
- API URL – These collectors need a URL that consists of protocol, host, port, and path. This is similar to SMIS except for the namespace which is equivalent to the path. Collectors using REST apis are:
- EMC ECS
- HP Lefthand
- Infinidat
- Oracle ZFS
- Recover point
- Tintri
- VMWare
- VPlex
- XTremeIO
- Pure Storage
- Non-standard – Collectors that do not fit the mold of 1 and 2:
- Netapp
- VNXE
Brocade – SMIS
Cisco – SMIS

Note in order to connect to SMI-S: From EMC ECOMConfig on your EMC SMI-S Provider Server you must disable CIMRequest and Security Logging.

Note: In order to support discovery of VNXe the ArrayIQ agent server component needs to be installed on the VNXE CLI server. Contact Device42 support for details if VNXE discovery is required.
